Funding to study DNA replication gaps and replication block
31 December 2024The project entitled “How do single-stranded DNA gaps control error-free vs. mutagenic lesion bypass?” has recently been awarded three-year funding by the ARC Foundation. This ambitious research aims to elucidate the subtle mechanisms that enable cells to manage DNA damage while preventing mutagenesis.
This support reflects the importance of understanding how cellular choices between error-free vs. mutagenic DNA damage tolerance pathways influence processes such as aging and the onset of cancer. Thanks to this grant, the research team will be able to investigate these mechanisms in greater depth, paving the way for potential advances in the prevention and treatment of diseases linked to genome instability.
