At population level, these dynamics contribute to the evolution of the species, but at individual level, they are responsible for numerous diseases, including cancer. RGCs include chromosome arm translocations, as well as variations in the copy number of large chromosome segments. RGCs and point mutations are formed in part during the repair of DNA breaks by recombination between homologous sequences during mitosis and meiosis.   <\/p>\n\n<p>DNA recombination between homologous sequences is a <strong>repair mechanism for various DNA lesions<\/strong>, including double-strand breaks. <strong>We are studying this mechanism in detail in both mitotic and meiotic contexts, and are seeking to identify new factors that may influence it<\/strong>.
