little-known signaling mechanisms, assess their role in cancer, and propose innovative therapeutic approaches.<\/h2>\n\n<p>In particular, we analyze how scaffolding molecules such as <strong>heparan sulfate-chain proteoglycans<\/strong> and <strong>PDZ-domain proteins<\/strong> influence the biology of extracellular vesicles (EVs).<\/p>\n\n<p>EVs, small organelles with a lipid bilayer, play a <strong>crucial role in intercellular communication<\/strong> and the<strong>organization of the extracellular matrix<\/strong>. The mechanisms governing their exchange are still poorly understood. We have <strong>cloned the PDZ protein syntenin<\/strong> and shown that it controls the biogenesis, loading and capture of EVs with its major partners, syndecans.  <\/p>\n\n<p>We have also demonstrated that PDZ proteins form complex networks with syndecans, influencing EV trafficking. Recently, we have <strong>developed pharmacological inhibitors of syntenin-syndecan interaction<\/strong>, and demonstrated their efficacy in limiting the loading of VEs with pro-oncogenic factors.
